Roy Anderson was one of the last surviving designers who began his machine design career designing steam engines. In his retirement he designed this lightweight, 15-inch-tall, 3 hp piston valve single cylinder marine vertical engine. Kit includes 25 castings and six d-size fully dimensioned drawings. Bedplate is SAE 660 bearing bronze. Cylinder diameter, 2.5; stroke 2.5 inches. Builder sources fasteners and barstock locally. This kit is ideal for a first project.
Anderson's articles about this engine can be read in STEAMBOATS & Modern Steam Launches (available from this website). This was the engine for which Bill Durham designed his 18-foot waterline length ROSE hull. Also, it is an ideal auxiliary in the "engineroom" with the Elliott Bay triple; both are turned-column, piston valve engines. Price $950.00 Drawings $100.00
